I live in Meanjin Brisbane on the unceded land of the Yuggera People. My parents married in Delhi, hence my name Kali: destroyer of worlds. It was the seventies. I had a peripatetic childhood, growing up in rural England, Abu Dhabi, Algeria, and Indonesia.
As an adult I continued to roam, and lived and worked in Bangladesh as an anthropologist.
In 2014 I returned to creative writing, and graduated from The University of Queensland in 2019 with both a Master of Arts degree in Writing, Editing, & Publishing and a Master of Philosophy degree in Creative Writing.
Veils and mysteries shroud the map, but I’m writing towards my mountain.

Absolutely loved your beautiful book Kali – I just couldn’t put it down! I could easily visualise each scene with your wonderful way with words! A motion movie in my mind, only made possible with your details in describing the outback setting, the ever changing ocean, the town during the depression and its ever intriguing people! Your creative juxtaposition of characters, storyline and scenes are a true testament to your story telling skills! Yet also a real reason to celebrate your most relevant research and well developed knowledge of the life and times living in the outback and the enduring hardship experienced in the depression years! I thoroughly enjoyed being able to see life from each of the characters different point of views! As your novel just effortlessly transitions between each of them! You just never know who’s shoes you will be walking in, with each turn of the page to a new and exciting chapter! The ocean and the outback – the best of both in this beautiful book, which certainly gives an old yet new and refreshing meaning to living life on the edge! 🌟5/5 🤩 Must Read!
