Well the big news for unpublished writers in Australia today is the announcement of a new award, sponsored by Hachette Australia and The Guardian Australia, the Richell Prize for Emerging Writers.
Submissions to include a synopsis, cover page and three chapters, and the novel does not even have to be complete.
The prize is $10,000 plus a 12-month mentorship from Hachette Australia.
Applications open on 2 July 2015 and close on 14 August 2015.
I’ve come across two international opportunities as well.
- Luke Bitmead Bursary, win a publishing contract with Legend Press, UK and 2,500 pounds, submit 1 May-1 August 2015
- The Impress Prize for New Writers, win a publishing contract with Impress, UK, submit by 26 June 2015
I had thought to submit my unpublished MS, The Songs of All Poets, to every competition I could, but I have received fantastic feedback from beta readers and am taking the time to craft it through another draft.
I might submit my next novel, set in Malta during WWI, to the Richell Prize.
